A Room Full of Women Who Get It

Last month we attended the Small Business Monthly Luncheon honoring this year’s Top Women Business Owners.
I left feeling really proud.
Proud of the women in that room. Proud to be a previous honoree. Proud to sit at a table surrounded by strong women who are building real businesses and carrying a lot more than most people ever see.
We sponsored a table this year, and I was so grateful for the chance to invite some of our clients, peers, and mentors to sit with us. At one point I looked around and just thought, wow. These are incredible women. And they were being honored alongside other women doing equally powerful things in our community.

I also had a few minutes to speak and address this year’s nominees. That meant a lot to me. There’s something special about standing in front of women who are in the thick of it and saying, we see you.
At our table, and at our booth, we tried to do something a little different.
We asked women to write down something they need to get done but haven’t. Not the big strategic thing. The real-life thing. Landscaping. Finding summer interns. Quilting projects they’ve been meaning to finish. Training they know their team needs.
All the stuff that sits in the back of your mind while you’re running payroll, answering emails, putting out fires, and getting everyone else across the finish line.
Our goal was simple. If something is causing you to pause, let’s see if we can help remove the barrier right here in this room.
And you know what happened? Women started saying, I know someone who can help you. Here’s her number. Let me introduce you.
It was powerful to watch. No competition. Just connection.
That’s what I love about this community.

At PCG, we spend a lot of time listening. We listen to what’s sitting in the back of your mind. The people issues you know need attention. The HR work you’ve been meaning to tackle but haven’t had the space for.
A lot of women business leaders don’t ask for help. Sometimes it’s because we’re used to doing it all. Sometimes we tell ourselves we’ll get to it later.
But later doesn’t make it lighter.
That’s where we come in. We take the HR and people work you need to get done and we make a plan to actually get it done. Maybe it’s cleaning up roles. Maybe it’s hiring. Maybe it’s fixing something that’s been messy for too long.
We help you move it forward so it’s not just another thing you’re carrying around while trying to run your business.
I’m grateful to Small Business Monthly for creating space to celebrate these women. And I’m grateful we got to be in that room.
Being surrounded by women who are building, leading, juggling, figuring it out as they go, and still showing up for each other…that’s powerful.
